Mrs. Hefter's Webpage

Dear Daniel Boone Area School District Community,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the Elementary Principal of Daniel Boone Area Primary Center.  My name is Melanie Hefter and I am honored to nurture Daniel Boone’s youngest learners. The 2023-2024  school year marks the beginning of my 29th year here at Daniel Boone.  I consider it my distinct pleasure to work with every Kindergarten and first grade student who attends Daniel Boone Area School District. 

Our building, located at 576 Monocacy Creek Road, Birdsboro, opened in 2008.  Our current enrollment is about 400 children.  We currently have 10 sections of kindergarten, and 10 first grade classrooms.  
37 professional staff members and 15 support staff serve the children attending our school. 

We are truly proud of our school community and the accomplishments of our students and staff!   It is the dedication of our committed faculty and staff that makes our school a shining example of what we want for all of our children- a safe and nurturing school environment that encourages children to grow as learners and good citizens in our school community.  

I am sincerely amazed by the amount of academic and social progress children make from the start of kindergarten to the end of 1st grade!  As a parent, and your child’s first teacher, you are an integral part of that ongoing growth.  We ask you to unite with us to ensure your child is progressing to his/her highest potential.  We encourage you to attend school events and work with your child at home to achieve sustained mastery and progress. 

Good attendance is critical to your child's success so it is important that your child attends school each day that they are able to, barring any illness or emergency situation.  We greatly appreciate you making daily school attendance a priority. 

We utilize our website and phone system to keep you informed of important announcements, but we also post events and pictures on our Daniel Boone Area School District facebook account.  Students achieve their best in school when parents and teachers partner together and communicate.  We want you to feel comfortable to reach out with any questions or concerns.
